About SkinPetals

SkinPetals explains skincare in plain English, so you can understand your ingredients and build a routine that suits your skin.

Why This Site Exists

Skincare marketing can make simple things feel complicated. Labels are hard to read, trends change quickly, and advice often conflicts. We started this site to explain what ingredients do, what the evidence supports, and where it is thin.

What We Cover

  • Skincare ingredients and how to use them
  • Morning and night routines
  • Common concerns such as acne, dryness, redness and dark spots
  • Which ingredients work well together
  • Sunscreen and everyday skin protection
  • Product guides for different skin types and budgets

How We Create Our Content

New articles start with a question people are searching for. We then gather information from published dermatology research, guidance from health and dermatology bodies, ingredient lists and manufacturer information.

We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. Automated checks then look for broken links, unsupported first-hand claims and missing sources before a new article goes live. Not every article is reviewed line by line by a person, so mistakes can happen. We are also working through older articles to bring them up to this standard. Tell us if you find a problem.

What We Do Not Do

We do not physically test the products we cover, and we do not run clinical studies of our own. We are not dermatologists or medical professionals, and nothing here replaces advice from one.

Our rules do not allow made-up test results, reviews or personal stories. When the evidence is limited or disputed, we aim to say so. Prices and product details change, so check them with the seller before you buy.

Using Our Guides Well

Skin varies from person to person, so a product that suits one reader may irritate another. Add one new product at a time, and try a patch test first.

See a dermatologist or doctor about skin problems that are severe, painful or not improving. Check with a professional before using active ingredients if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How We Make Money

SkinPetals is reader-supported. Some links go to retailers such as Amazon. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. Because we can earn from these links, you should keep that in mind when reading our recommendations. Read our full affiliate disclosure.
